Payman AI Introduces Payman Gateway

Payman AI today announced Payman Gateway, a product designed to help banks serve customers who increasingly use AI agents to manage their financial lives. Gateway gives banks a controlled way to handle requests from external AI agents while maintaining oversight of their systems, data, and customer relationships.

As customers turn to AI assistants such as Muse and Instinct, banks face a growing question: how should they respond when a customer's AI agent requests account information or asks them to take action?

Payman Gateway provides a clear approach. The bank operates its own AI agent, which receives authorized requests from customers' external agents. The bank's agent executes those requests within the bank's firewall on behalf of an authenticated customer, subject to the bank's controls.

How Payman Gateway works

When a customer asks an AI assistant a question like "What's my balance, and how much have I earned in interest?", the assistant must request that information from the bank. Gateway sits in between, authenticating, verifying, and routing:

  1. Authenticate the customer. Gateway confirms the person behind the request.
  2. Verify the agent. Gateway checks that the requesting AI agent is approved.
  3. Route to the bank's agent. The authorized request is passed to the bank's own agent.
  4. The bank decides. The bank's agent determines what information it is permitted to access and return.

This approach keeps the bank in control of execution and disclosure. Banking data remains governed within the bank's systems, and responses to external agents are subject to the bank's permissions and policies.

"The bank stays at the center of the customer relationship, even when the interaction begins somewhere else."

Tyllen Bicakcic, Co-Founder and CEO, Payman AI

Keeping banks at the center of the customer relationship

Gateway also gives banks visibility into requests customers make through external AI agents. Even when an interaction begins in another interface, the bank remains responsible for fulfilling the request and serving its customer.

Gateway has quickly become one of Payman AI's most requested products, reflecting strong interest from banks preparing for the growth of agentic banking.

Payman AI's work centers on a fundamental question: how do you trust AI with money? Gateway brings that focus to the connection between banks and the AI agents their customers choose to use.
